Turkish National Youth Philharmonic Orchestra - 2023
Sabancı Foundation played a major role in the establishment of the Turkish National Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (TUGFO) as its main supporter, and the Orchestra has started its 2023 concerts. The orchestra, consisting of 73 young musicians, had a preparation camp that ended on August 23 and it gave 9 concerts in Turkey and Italy.
The Turkish National Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (TUGFO), conducted by Conductor Cem Mansur under the umbrella of the Sevda-Cenap And Music Foundation, with the support of the Sabancı Foundation as part of its many activities to engage young people in arts, started its preparation camp in Sabancı University for its tour in 2023.
The Orchestra consists of 73 young musicians, aged 16 to 22 years, who took an exam to join the orchestra from different conservatories in Turkey, and they learned this year from Hande Küden, a violinist in the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and Sezai Kocabıyık, a solo oboist of the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra and Borusan Philharmonic Orchestra.
TUGFO, Turkey's most dynamic orchestra, enables young musicians to gain orchestral experience in important concert halls at home and abroad.
The orchestra is preparing for a tour across Turkey and Italy under the artistic direction of Conductor Cem Mansur with two different concert programs this year. Firstly it performed in Istanbul Atatürk Cultural Center on August 23 and completed the tour with a concert in Rome, Italy, on September 6, in one of the world's leading symphonic halls, Sala Santa Cecilia, to which it has been invited for the fourth time.
