Sowing Season: Experience Sharing Meeting October 16, 2019
In the 12th year of Sabancı Foundation Grant Programs, Sowing Season held in 16 October 2019.
During the event, stories of 10 supported civil society organisations within the Sabancı Foundation Grant Programs in 2018-2019, were shared under the theme of ‘Sowing Season, Meeting Season’
Project representatives of Ashoka Turkey, Another School is Possible Association, Rural Schools Transformation Network, Mor Çatı Women's Shelter Association, Nirengi Association, Foundation for Supporting Individuals with Autism, Colorful Hopes Association, Tohum Autism Foundation, Technology Development Foundation of Turkey and UNFPA Turkey, United Nations Population Fund Turkey Office shared their projects' results and stories of beneficiaries of their projects in the event which is moderated by Şirin Payzın. 600 people from civil society, private sector, universities and public institutions participated the event.
In her opening speech, the Chair of Sabancı Foundation Board of Trustees, Ms. Güler Sabancı stated that “As being the first foundation implementing grant programs in Turkey, we believe civil society has a significant place for a society in which every individual enjoys their rights equally. Strong civil society organisations bring along strong individuals and strong democracy. For this reason, we give emphasis very much on supporting civil society as assurance of democracy, individual and society.”

After the Project presentations, thematic workshops were carried out to held in depth discussions. 'Child Participation in Education Environments', 'Disability Rights in Education: Where Are We?', 'Collective Impact in Teacher Empowerment' and 'Mainstreaming Gender Equality' workshops facilitated by Ayşe Beyazova, Kenan Çayır, Murat Günel and Başak Tuğsavul respectively. Total of 155 people participated to the workshops.
‘Great Reunion' Took Place in Sabancı Center
One day before the Sowing Season, on October 15, 2019 ‘Great Reunion’ was organised and all organisation representatives that are supported as part of Sabancı Foundation Grant Programs along 12 years were invited. More than 200 representatives from 78 organisations, that granted by Sabancı Foundation to date, convened in this meeting in Sabancı Center hosted by the Chair of Sabancı Foundation Board of Trustees, Ms. Güler Sabancı.
